Hockey team Jukurit visit the Kuoma factory

Did you know that Kuoma is a long-term partner and sponsor of the Mikkeli-based ice hockey team Jukurit? In September, the representatives of Mikkelin Jukurit had the pleasure of visiting the Kuomiokoski factory. The team’s head coach, Olli Jokinen, and captain Petrus Palmu got to see how Kuoma boots are made. Check out the pictures and video and join Jukurit for a tour of the surroundings of the Kuoma factory, explore the various manufacturing stages of footwear and meet some of our staff.

Olli and Petrus were greeted at the Kuoma factory in Kuomiokoski by our CEO, Antti Puttonen. He took his visitors for a tour around the factory area, surrounded by nature, and told them how the company was first established.

Our production team showed the visitors the manufacturing process of Kuoma boots, step by step. Olli and Petrus also got to try their hand at shoemaking by adding bottoms as well as finishing and packing shoes. As it turns out, these two are particularly good at shoe lasting! “That went well,” Petrus happily said.

Finally, the boots are inspected and packed in a box to wait for their new owner. From the Kuoma factory, the shoes continue their journey to the Mäntyharju sorting center.

After the tour, while having some coffee, Petrus said he remembers wearing Kuoma shoes as a child. “We had a lot of fun trying out the processes and seeing the factory. It’s really impressive,” the hockey players said at the end of their visit.
